Enjoying our English class

For two Wednesdays now we have been holding English classes for professionals. It's always a joy to see them improve in their English speaking abilities. I have been doing "ice breaker" activities where they would get a picture or a thing that best describes them and why.

Aside from the fact that we would get to know them better, it is also a great opportunity for them to express their thoughts in English. I still don't know what I'll be doing this week, but I'll try to think of another fun activity.

Hubby and I will also be busy going to universities and schools to offer free tutorials and opportunities for students to practice their English with us. We still don't have one of those plastic cards / identification cards so we should order ASAP.

Will be posting photos of our school visits... until then!

Missing Bukidnon

I am proudly from Bukidnon-- a beautiful province in Northern Mindanao, Philippines. "Bukid" means "mountain" in our language, and from the name itself, you would have the impression that I am from the mountains (LOL).

Actually, I am. But we live in proper houses and we travel on proper, though somewhat narrow roads. Now based in Bangkok, I miss the green, lush scenery that we would see on the way to our hometown.  There are two beautiful spots that I particularly miss going to-- one is a hill and the other a lake.  Whenever we have friends visiting, we always see to  it that we would take them to these beautiful spots so they could enjoy their Bukidnon visit to the fullest.
Mt. Musuan, also known as "Mt. Kalayo" (Fire Mountain). It is said that this is dormant volcano that has not erupted for centuries. It is such a beautiful sight especially on early mornings and late afternoons.  We have gone up to this hill countless times already-- the view is magical from up there!

Lake Apo is dubbed as one of the cleanest lakes in the Philippines.  We always come here for picnics and just relax, enjoy the fresh air and ride on the floating cottages.
Some people would actually spend the night in both of these places, but I haven't tried that yet.  Maybe we should try camping there sometime.  But I definitely need to check on the north face clearance for tents, jackets and backpacks!

I don't know if the kids would be ready for a night outside a proper house, but we could always try, couldn't we?

Going back to school?

Hubby and I have been talking about a lot of things lately. It's just great to share our dreams over a cup of coffee and be able to pay together. These dreams don't have to be reachable at the moment. "Dreams don't cost us anything," they say. So it's alright to dream big, right?

Hubby has been searching a lot about online college degrees. Although he already finished a degree a couple of years ago, it's never too late to get another one, is it? With the advent of the internet and the convenience brought about by modern technology, getting another degree is not far from impossible.

As for me, maybe I'd go for it once the kids are older.

Dreams

I am sure we had dreams as a child. Our teachers would ask us what we wanted to be when we grew up.. and we answered something.

If you'd ask me what my answer was, well... it kept changing over the years.

I wanted to be a nun when I was a lot younger. Then it changed to becoming a banker (because when I was younger, only banks had air conditioning units and I was so fascinated by these ladies working in very cool offices, looking their best! LOL!). Like any other girl, I also wanted to be a teacher.

When I was in High School, I wanted to be a broadcaster/ disc jockey.

I also wanted to pursue theater arts at one point, then it shifted to going to Bible college.

Gosh. I never realized I was so pickle-minded until I wrote this post. Ha! Pursuing a medical profession was never one of my options, but I remember being impressed at those nurses wearing dainty white uniforms pushing those mobile computer carts.

Anyways, I am happy with who I am now and I don't have regrets in life. As for our kids, I just want them to pursue their dreams. I am so ready to cheer them on.

What did you want to be when you were little? (credits to google for the photo)

Lovin' the sun!

While people here in the tropics are so curious about how it is to have snow, people in the west fly here to enjoy the sun. While most Asians buy whitening soaps and lotions hoping to have a fairer skin, Westerners would not mind being under the heat of the sun for hours just to get a good tan.
Tourists in Pattaya, Thailand loving the sun!
I guess by nature people always want to have something they don't have, huh?
For some who are desperate to get a tan and don't have the time or budget to go on a holiday, sunless spray tan could work just as fine. It would be great to have a gorgeous tan without having to spend that much on a trip, but the relaxation you get from a holiday, aside from the tan, would be something tourists would want more!

Hassle-free payments

It's hard to keep up with so many things in this very busy lifestyle. Some people have to juggle their time between marriage, kids and work. For others who have more than just one work, it would be doubly tough, I'm sure.

One of the most challenging things about having multiple employments is that you won't have that much time to sort out your bills, and it would not be surprising that you can't pay them on time! This is one of the reasons why ach payments works so well for super busy people. Ach takes care of payments-- on time, convenient, precise and hassle-free.

Why do you have to be so stressed out with your payments when ach can do it for you?

Tea Talk: I survived a super busy week!

I am having a glass of carrot juice.  Like our host, I feel a bit sick so a healthy drink like this coupled with enough hours of sleep should make me feel better.

I am feeling so anxious these days because we have not found a house yet.  We were thinking if it would be a good idea to move in in a one room condo or not.  For now, the price is what we could afford but we are thinking about how this would affect our growing kids.  Just this afternoon I asked my hubby, "have we stopped believing that God will supply our needs?."

On my mind are:
-Our house transfer which will  be by the end of this month.
-Hubby's ear infection has been bothering him a lot lately.  He is going to the doctor for a check up tomorrow so I hope he will feel better.
-The household chores that are yet to be done: ironing, house cleaning and getting our house ready for some visitors over dinner tomorrow.
- Our reading in the Book of Romans that will  be discussed tomorrow in our team meeting.
